Game not loading properly (intel card)

I've tried the tutorial several times and it loads the same each time with a 3/4 black screen with one 1/4 of the screen gray or dark blue. If I wave my mouse around in this screen the part of the screen will flicker between blue and grey tones. The tutorial map then will sometimes appear. So far most of the times I've done the tutorial it says welcome to the tutorial then nothing happens. The farthest I've gotten in the tutorial is when the I've moved the hero unit around a bit and was given some bird like looking critters but was then unable to move any of them or the hero anymore. I've so far gotten no error messages and the game hasn't crashed. I've tried restarting my PC and running the repair function in the launcher, nothing changed.
My Laptop is running an older intel graphics card so its possible it is below the minimum specs but Intel cards were not listed so I am unsure.
