why low gold income is not necessarily a bad thing
Initially i thought that the slower gold income relative to gem/scrap was a problem.
Now i see that it is easy to macro the high scrap income, as long as my gem income can be made high enough match it.
However, gem income is hard to come by, since players need to be brave to acquire them. Gem bases are well guarded by difficult titans and misc gem orbs are in contestable territory. If Scrap/Gem balance can be achieved, the player can macro t3 mercs and have a powerful enough army to attempt a win.
Initially I wanted more squad micro gameplay since the micro minigames are definitely fun. Now I think the squad is arguably weaker than the mercs, and serve the purpose of a time-buying tool and base-securing tool. The mercs seem be the necessary tools to siege and win the game. Then again, the game is new, and players likely tend to turtle. Perhaps in a world full of transports will we see mercs become a protected liability and core army micro and map control/harass pays the win.
