Today, after three years of development, over 34,000 private beta sign-ups, tens of thousands of test games, thousands of private playtesters from around the globe, hundreds of playtests, and barrels of coffee and energy drinks, Guardians of Atlas is open to the public.

That’s right — as of right now, you can go to GuardiansOfAtlas.com, download the game, and play completely free of charge on Mac and Windows.

We started Artillery by building a “gaming platform for the web.” We wanted to bring high-quality gaming experiences to the web browser with a great engine and tools. We quickly realized that we needed to prove out our platform, so we decided to build a new real-time strategy game. We partnered with one of the biggest celebrities in the RTS genre, Sean “Day9” Plott — and the rest is history.

The result is an fresh combination of RTS and MOBA called Guardians of Atlas. We started with real-time strategy at its barest roots and worked forward to the fun-focused army-battling game we have now. Through hundreds of experiments and playtests for the last few years, the Artillery game design team obsessed over a massive design space and distilled it into what we’re proud to reveal today: Guardian’s of Atlas’ first game mode, Skirmish.

At this moment you can download Atlas, try our tutorial, play against bots solo or with friends, watch and analyze replays, and compete with other players in our 3v3 army-battling titan-summoning Skirmish mode. But this is just the beginning — Atlas isn’t just a game, it’s a platform for fun. In the near future, we’ll be trying out new game modes, maps, heroes, units and abilities. We already have a new game mode and hero/unit in the works, and we can’t wait to show it to you and get your feedback.

I’d like to thank the incredible team of talented people at Artillery and our amazing playtesters that have made this game a reality. I am equally grateful to our investors who had faith in us and gave us their steady support from the beginning. I’d also like to thank all of our friends and family that have stuck by us and encouraged us to make something special. Thank you all.

So head on over to GuardiansOfAtlas.com, download the game, have some awesome battles, and let us know what you think. See you in-game!
